Red Yucca

Hesperaloe parviflora

Plant Details:

Plant Type: Cactus or Succulent
Plant Family: Agavaceae
Plant Description: Clump-forming succulent native to Texas and Mexico. Not actually a yucca although it resembles one. Slender blue-green leaves grow basally. Long stalks above the plant produce bright red flowers. May not be reliably cold hardy during cold winters. Planting should occur in the spring to increase its resistance to the first winter.

Maintenance:

Maintenance Type: Succulent
Plant Care: Succulent (perennials with fleshy leaves and no spines): Remove dead leaves and stems. Succulents with stems that die back in the fall may be left for winter interest or removed once dried. Trim as necessary to retain a desirable shape.
