Plant Description: Large slow-growing evergreen shrub native to the southwestern United States. Bluish-green holly-like leaves are quite spiny. Spring brings profuse, small yellow flowers followed by bright red berries in late summer to fall. Berries are edible though sour. Will take some time to reach its maximum height. Best used as a barrier or screen.
Plant Care: Only minimal pruning is required and mostly to retain a desirable shape. Pruning should be done in early spring. Monitor for pests, diseases or other ailments on a regular basis.
