Tor Birchleaf Spirea

Spiraea betulifolia 'Tor'

Plant Details:

Plant Type: Shrub
Plant Family: Rosaceae
Plant Description: Mounding deciduous shrub with dark-green leaves. Clusters of white flowers bloom in late-spring and, if pruned as they fade, will rebloom. Foliage exhibits red, oranges and yellows in the fall. Best grown with moderate amounts of water. Prune out older branches to promote new growth and more blossoms.
Plant Care: Prune regularly to promote health, provide air circulation, maintain a desirable shape, and to remove dead or damaged branches. Pruning is best done in late-winter to early spring for most trees and late-spring for spring blooming shrubs. When pruning, remove 1/3rd of the oldest branches by cutting at the base of the shrub. Monitor for pests, diseases or other ailments on a regular basis.
