Yellow Coneflower

Echinacea paradoxa

Plant Details:

Plant Type: Perennial
Plant Family: Asteraceae
Plant Description: This yellow coneflower is native to the Ozarks but it is a great tough perennial for Utah climates. Taller than the average coneflower, the stems of this coneflower grow up to 3 feet tall, but may take several seasons to reach that height. Bright yellow drooping petals surround a central brown cone. The plants have an informal look that is well-suited to meadow-style gardens.

Maintenance:

Maintenance Type: Perennial - Herbaceous
Plant Care: Perennial - Herbaceous (soft-stemmed plants that die back in winter and regrow in spring): Remove spent blooms to promote rebloom later. Some plants tend to flop over after the first bloom and attempt to regrow from the base; in these cases, the old stems can be cut away in summer. As plants become dormant in the fall, remove dead leaves and stems.
