Late Dutch Honeysuckle

Lonicera periclymenum 'Serotina'

Plant Details:

Plant Type: Climbing Vine
Plant Family: Caprifoliaceae
Plant Description: This honeysuckle cultivar has blue-green narrow leaves. It is enjoyed for its fragrant, creamy-white flowers and crimson-purple buds that cover the vine throughout summer and into fall. Red berries follow flowers. The vine performs best when given a structure to sprawl along and a little afternoon shade. Considered one of the better honeysuckles due to the combination of great flower color and powerful fragrance.

Maintenance:

Maintenance Type: Climbing Vine
Plant Care: Climbing Vine (climbing or trailing plants): Prune regularly to promote health, remove overly tangled branches, maintain a desirable shape, and to remove diseased or damaged branches. Pruning is best done in late winter to early spring for most vines. With spring blooming vines, prune after the blooms are spent. Train on structures strong enough to support the vine. Some vines require more or less pruning than average depending on their growth habit.
