Buckeye Belle Peony

Paeonia 'Buckeye Belle'

Plant Details:

Plant Type: Perennial
Plant Family: Paeoniaceae
Plant Description: This bushy herbaceous perennial provides showy, velvety, deep red flowers with yellow stamens on sturdy stems with attractive foliage underneath. This neatly compact plant is both deer and disease resistant, as well as attractive to butterflies and other pollinators. It also makes a good cut flower. Prefers full sun but will tolerate some mild afternoon shade. Grows best in moderately moist, well drained soils. This is a cultivar of the hybrid Paeonia officinalis x P. lactiflora.

Maintenance:

Maintenance Type: Perennial - Herbaceous
Plant Care: Perennial - Herbaceous (soft-stemmed plants that die back in winter and regrow in spring): Remove spent blooms to promote rebloom later. Some plants tend to flop over after the first bloom and attempt to regrow from the base; in these cases, the old stems can be cut away in summer. As plants become dormant in the fall, remove dead leaves and stems.
