Plant Description: Large upright growing deciduous shrub. Panicles of fragrant reddish-purple flowers bloom in spring. Green cordate leaves have no fall color. Tolerates many soil types but no extremes. Quite drought tolerant once established.

Excessively long stems can be shortened to a strong branch. Lastly, thin out some of the younger stems to prevent crowding. Remove spent blooms before seed set to promote more blooms later.
